If you measure the inside channel of your base shoe at 5/8 inch wide, you have the Simonton profile. DIY or Call Us?

You can inspect the gasket condition yourself: press a fingernail into the rubber where the glass enters the shoe. If the rubber is hard and does not spring back, the gasket is finished. You can also confirm whether your screws are stripped by removing one rail screw and checking if the threads come out clean.

What we do not recommend is removing the glass panels yourself. A tempered railing panel weighs between 35 and 60 pounds, and once the gasket tension is released, the panel has nothing holding it in the shoe. If a panel drops or torques as it comes out, tempered glass does not crack – it shatters into thousands of small pieces, all at once, and the panel is gone.
